  • two overseas players in a ranking event final

today will see two oversea to my knowledge the last time this this occured was in the 1985 British Open final in the 1984/85 season, when Silvino Francisco (south Africa) beat Kirk Stevens (Canada) 12-9, I also believe this is the only professional tornament final that involved two overseas players. can anyone coerrect me if i'm wrong, also does anyone know where Kirk Stevens or Silvino Francisco are now are what they are doing now

    Thanks Mr snooker

Kirk Stevens is still a leading light in Canada. Winning the Canadian Title last year and representing Canada in the IBSF world champs last november. Silvino Francisco doesn't look to be playing anymore however his nephew Peter Francisco is still very much a leading light in South Africa. Shame the world of snooker doesn't support these countries. They produced such flambouyant characters that the game really needs!!!!

Cearly remember watching the Francisco v Stevens final back in 1985. Great final. One of the things I remember is that the musical montage actually showed Francisco holding the trophy aloft before the conclusion to the match had actually been shown on TV - a terrible gaff by ITV. Today's overseas final is definitely building up to being even more thrilling.
