The very best stuff can look quite striking, but the paler parts can also look dirty and a little confused. I'm not a fan
just saw the black and white ebony.... im really curious how it would look like on a cue. maybe ebony butt, 4 white veneers, 4 black and white ebony face splices would be an interesting. you got a black and white cue

define very best stuff??
Well i saw it a while ago and had the idea of thick black veneers and then the Pale Moon ebony. As far as ive seen in the past its very very very expensive and i cant find any inside the UK or Europe. I guess (correct me if im wrong Trevor), the best stuff will have a good contrast between black and white, the white will not be a dull chewing gum colour and I guess the figure will be pleasing. I see what you mean by dirty looking though.....I dont like this...
If you are looking for a brown coloured butt, perhaps cocobolo would be a better choice.
I recently purchased a cue with a rosewood butt. It has Thuya burl splicing and snake wood as the secondary splice. My hopes were to have, from a distance, a brown looking cue. The rosewood is darker than I had hoped. I am saving towards another cue and hearing that MW has some nice rosewood, I might be saving for longer than I thought.
I have hopes of catching up on my correspondences this weekend so I will try to post some pics.
