  • Defective Olhausen 10' snooker table-what to do ?

I have a table that the balls hop into the air when coming off the rails at any but the lightest shots. The service man for Diamonback billiards has visited and acknowledged that it is not right. The balls are the correct size. Olhausen believes the cloth may be stretched too tight on the rails, I am not buying it. They told the dealer they were looking into some cloth from England, but now neither the dealer noer Olhausen is communicating w/ me. In addition the cushions are irregualar where they taper into the pockets. This causes the pockets to reject more shots than accept.

Watching the recent event from Scotland it is obvoius that the cut of the cushions is not at a straight angle like the ones on the tables used in competition, but are arced as they curve in.

Does anyone have a clue as to a strategy to get Olhausen to correct these problems or take the table back. The dealer won't return calls or emails.:

Have a good look around this section for advice on cloth and cousin height and template cuts - http://www.thesnookerforum.com/board...play.php?f=100

Can you take some pictures of the table, pockets and cousins, upload them to photobucket and post a link so the table geeks on the forum can tell you what is going wrong.

What is the room temperature where your table is?

Temps have varied between the 80's and 60's (F). I do have pics, but must figure out how to get them to the forum. In the meantime thanks for your response ferret.

The dealer's saying that the manufactureer wants to replace the entire top rail, but I am skeptical that they really know what they are doing as far as building a snooker table.

I'll try to get pictures into the thread.

      Again thanks to any all.

          Hi,
Although this may sound a puzzling problem, although I am not an expert on snooker tables I would employ a number of possible solutions. The problem may be rooted in either the wrong sized balls or faulty cushions. Experiment with different sized balls to see what effect the balls have with the cushions. Once you are satisfied that the ball size may/may not be the problem contact the Citizen Advice Bureaux regarding your complainsts. They can in turn speak to trading standards if required. You could also contact a table fitter who would probably be able to diagnose the problem quickly. Hopefully this info helps.

Thanks Madmick, the dealer's installer has verified the balls are the size for the cushions. Seems the Olhausen's are lagging on solving the probs, and here in the states my web searches on failure to honor warranty seem to only deal w/ liability for injury suffered from defective products.

Really a bitter experience as this is the only "luxury" I've indulged myself in this life.

            Appreciate your input.

the cushions sound like they are set at the wrong height,, probably too high as they then force the cueball down into the bed of the table on impact and then bouncing them back up ,, easy to fix even for a novice table fitter ,,,,,,,,,
