  • Alright Lads

I used to play about 17 years ago when I was a youth, I think I played quite regular for a three year period without ever reaching a fifty break. I never owned my own cue and back then for some reason It never occurred to me to buy one.

Anyway I'm back on it now after joining a golf club by me that has three really good tables that are cheap as chips, I think a quid lasts an hour n half.
Just bought a Riley 950 1 piece cue with a view of getting a Trev White maybe late next year.

My safety play is still red hot, but I really want to try and concentrate on my break building this time round.

My highest break is 49, it should of been fifty plus but my arse went south on a simple blue.

Im hoping to pick up on tips to improve my game by using this forum.

I think I've already picked up the Trev White bug by reading those threads, I'd never hear'd of half these cue makers until I looked up this handy forum.

    Cheers Micky

Hi Mick: The trevor white cue may be down the road, but remember you might wait a while, I have heard 8 months and more, for your order. Or you could buy a second hand
one which I did, for a great price and excellent condition.[maybe I lucked out since as I
          said it is second hand]
Anyway best of luck on that 50+ and happy new year.

            Cheers mate.

Im no where near a 50 +. My average when I was playing years back was 20 odd, the once or twice everything clicked and fell nice and I ended up with a 37 and a 49, funnily enough I think I packed in playing not long after that as birds and beer became my no1 pastime.
But Im back now and hoping to better myself.

Just found a fella on youtube giving tips, its pretty good to watch.

              welcome mick. and merry xmas

theres a guy called kevy62 on youtube for coaching snooker. hes very helpful. and i think hes actually on this forum too.

              he helped me loads.

trevor white is awesome. no doubt about that. waiting time is painful. good luck with that.
surely there are others to consider it seems a bit hasty to get a trevor white right after you started playing again for a long time. thats all.

Yes thats who Ive been looking at on youtube.
Im more than happy with my Riley at the moment, Riley cues dont seem to get much of a shout on here though, but it does the job.

                      Good Evening..

                      ..chaps and chapesses..

Hi I'm Dave and have been playing cue sports for around 25 years - english league 8 ball pool and snooker at local league level. My Highest break is 132. Although these days I play generally just once a week for a couple of hours or so. Any break 40 plus these days is most welcome. Been today - 51 missed a mid-didstance pink with 3 open reds left on (gutted -should have been a lot higher) Also a 40 and 36, so not great, but an OK standard.

Interesting site this - good forums and a lot of support for newer players.

For the record I play with a Parris Ultimate cue, but it's been altered substancially though - Quick Release 3/4 joint added by original Riley co (1999) to accomodate telescopic extenda and mini-butt joint added around 2001 by Maurice Job of Mansfield.

However my next cue will be a Cue Craft - Their Hand-spliced range is as good quality as anybody's in the UK and at half the price!

Been watching the video's posted by young Mal - good cue action and decent stance. Think your bridge needs looking at mate and possibly that's why you're catching the right hand red on follow through. Keep practising, you've obviously got the bug!

Anybody know why Clive Everton hardly does any commentating nowadays? To my knowledege he only did one match on BBC in UK champs the other week? Has he been signed up by Eurosport? Any one out there know please?

                      Thanks in advance...Dave, Snookerpoolman
