  • New cue needed fast but need some help!

    Hi peeps!

I am in need of a new cue by next Monday 8th February but would like a nice looking and decent one. Their seems to be so many types and I am so confused on what to get? I have around £200 to spend on a cue and case so any help would be much apreciated.

    Thanks

Left it a bit late - that probably rules out someone posting a cue to you then, where abouts in UK are you ? as you may need to pick one up from somewhere

So i take you have looked at Stu's site http://greenbaize.com/gbl.htm
I think you will be happy with any of those cues within your budget (altho you wont get a case from him as well i doubt)
do you know what specs your after ?

Yes I have looked on his site and he was very helpfull but I just cant decide what one to get. I wanted a 3/4 cue possibly quick release air lock joint around 19oz with 9.7 tip or near abouts. I want this cue to be one that will last me and not bend ect.

Deano I think you're mad to rush into buying a cue so fast, especially if its one you want to keep for a long time. Whats so special about Monday? Big game? If so you've got no time to get used to a new cue. Call me a pessimist but I sense disaster! Take your time. Decide on your exact specification. Perhaps share your thoughts with forum members and then make up your mind what cue to buy. For £200 Greenbaize would be a good choice. Craftsman Cues (Simon) are also worth considering if you're looking to get a case within that budget. Good luck.

That cue looks nice and also good price, you can maybe get a case later. But what cue are you using at the moment ? may be better to play your match with that, because as Bigmeek said it takes a long time to get used to a new cue and it may be a disaster, and you'll end up blaming the cue when really its your fault

Go to a shop like greenbaize and try some out to find one you like. Alternately you buy one in your spec off the internet but you never truly know if it will be the right fit for you.
Some people spend a long time looking for the right cue, others just buy one off the internet and are happy with it.
A good cue is one you like and play well with, it doesn't come down to price, brand etc.
If you like it, then its a good cue

That is the question no-one can answer
You need to try a lot of cues before you find the "one" - and even then some (most ?) people have to search for a long time. Try asking a few people down your club to try out their cue and see how they all compare and it should give you a better idea of what you really need. If you could manage to take a trip up to Greenbaize, Stu lets you try out all the cues in the snooker club which is attached to his shop, you will definetly find one to suit (about 400 cues)

Guys thanks for your help I really apreciate it.
Unfortunatley my highest break is about 55 so I have a long way to go. The cue I was useing was a Baracuda gold medal thats how long I have had it So wanted to treat myself. And this master cue looked nice.

If you're playing in a league then you must be an OKish player and not completely new to snooker? Can I ask what you've been playing with up to now? Do you like it? If you don't like it then what don't you like. To heavy? Too light? Tip too small/big?
From your post above you seem to know the spec you want so if Stu can supply it you'll get a good quality cue for certain. Whether you can quickly start playing good snooker is another story.
