New member of this forum from USA. Have not seen many USA-ers on this forum yet. I have always enjoyed snooker but it is not easy nowadays to find even American snooker tables much less English ones in my part of the world. Everybody plays nine-ball or (shudder) eight-ball. So I have decided to purchase my own snooker table (later this spring). I have joined this forum to interact with fellow snooker players and to get tips for buying and maintaining my own table. Unfortunately, the room I will put it in will just accommodate a 10' table but a 12' would be very crowded. I will also be interested in finding out which table makers here in the USA offer the best quality.

Thank you much. I've already exchanged posts with a few Canadians. I have about 3 or 4 months to make a decision on a table so I intend to spend some time here learning from those in the know.

Thanks. There are 11 snooker tables in Texas (where I live) according to findsnooker.com. One is about 2 miles from me but in a place I didn't even know existed. I will check it out. I will also check the posts on the AzBilliards.com.

Hello and good on you for playing the only cue sport worthy of those talented with wood in their hands. (I know you're American and wood means something else over there, so I'll qualify that statement by saying cue in your hand!)

Best of luck getting a table, but try and knock down a wall and get a 12 ft! You're not playing real snooker unless its a full size table! Plus you should maybe look at importing a table as you can get them for no money over here.

Thank you and yes, wood has several meanings over here including cue sticks. I am investigating all options including the importing of a good used table. I still have time to do this right. My wife and I are building a large room as an extension and there is always the possibility that I can convince her to add a few more feet but space is a premium. I'm playing my cards carefully though - she has been on board with this from the start (got to love a gal like that) and I don't want to upset the cart, so to speak. I agree with you since I have played extensively on both 12 and 10-footers; nevertheless, I will take any quality snooker table I can get even if it has to be a 10 footer. :snooker:

The disgusting thing is that I live near Houston, Texas, the 4th largest city in the US and there are only 11 commercial snooker tables (only a few 12-footers) in the entire state that I am aware of. Twenty years ago, almost every pool hall had at least one. And many of these in my area are not located in the more favorable parts of town.
