cue magazines

[Sport Focus]

Hello all,

I was just wondering how many people on here regularly buy any of the Cue magazines that are around.

Obviously there are a few such as Snooker Scene and cue sport.

I was really just curious of how popular they are, how helpful or interesting people find them.

Is it something that you just pick up if its around in the club, do you buy it yourself or do you look at them on line only or have you never looked at any of them.

I've taken a monthly magazine since 1994 (Pot Black, superseded by Snooker Scene when it was subsumed in 2000). I've also managed to collect an almost complete set of Snooker Scene over the years; from April 1973 to this month's I'm only 8 issues missing.

I find them very worthwhile although usually not when they first come out, strangely! I often spend as little as half an hour skimming through it when it arrives in the post, but will randomly flick through in more detail in idle moments thereafter.

Ive seen that you have a great knowledge of stats obviously hence the name so it doesnt surprise me that you would take some interest in the magazines.

Its often the case that you can get an idea of how well a subject is doing by the sales of the magazines and the interest that people take in them.
Ive spoken to a lot of people that dont really know that they are even on sale.

Theres also a lot of comments that you see on these type of sites that have taken there time to come to the front which have acctually been in the magazines weeks/months before so they are obviously a good source of information but perhaps very under used?

I'd agree fully with both halves of that sentence. He also has two very good colleagues in Phil Yates and David Hendon.

Perhaps magazine sales are less of a good indication in this instant, Internet age than previously. It is definitely for a niche market for a sport such as snooker, I would think.

I think they will be prized possessions in years to come, as a record of history, probably more than they are appreciated when current.
