Hi there
I'm a newbie, been lurking for a bit but now is a good time to introduce myself.
I've been playing snooker for about a year more or less once a week. A friend and I have young kids and, since they're no longer babies, use it as an excuse to get out the house as much as anything else.
But I'm trying hard to improve and really enjoy it.
My best break is 18 which is not great but realistically if I manage two or three 9 breaks in a game, I feel like I've done myself justice. I can pot balls, I just can't always pot one after the other as my positional play is really in need of work.
I recently turned 40 and arranged that anyone who wanted to give me a present put in a donation towards a new cue. I managed to get a new Mike Wooldridge Shark Cue out of that which is brilliant. After using a £30 cue from the local sport shop I cannot describe the difference. It hasn't made me better instantly but I can feel what is going on and for the first time have started to make progress on putting the cue ball in the general area that I want it to go.
I play a Riley's in Redhill as it is the only place that I know of near me. I'd love to hear from anyone in the area.
Thanks to all the posters on this forum, I've already learned a great deal from you all.
Regards
Colin
