Went and had a few frames, would have loved to have played more, was 2-2 and we were both just about starting to get our eyes in!

Nice to meet you fella and I'll certainly be up for more snooker once I get back from Coventry!

Nice table and a quality hide away, I mean place for some snooker! Would be a good additon to the league if you can get those other players involved, although probably a bit far for the Ripley and maybe Belper teams.
    One day I'll make a century, I've knocked in a 51!

Yes thats always the trouble Dwayne till we know which teams are coming in and which aren't its hard to know which areas we want to concentrate on.

I think the main expansion areas look likely to be around the Alfreton and Ripley areas really as there are more clubs there, though of course you never quite know how the land lies as regards them playing in other leagues or overall interest in those places.

Had to give Bakewell a shot though as they were always in the league for many years and after all it is only a stones throw from Darley Dale, which is after all the main monicker of the league itself, even though it doesn't even reach that far nowadays for the snooker at least!

Apparently there are a few young uns go for snooker coaching at Whitworth on Saturday mornings so that would probably be the best hope from there of getting a team but other than that its more or less exclusively billiards I'm told.

The billiards has quite a stronghold in Ashbourne so Hartington might fit in nicely with that if you play the three ball game at all sully though I suspect not!

He does indeed play billiards, we were going to end with a game but I had to head off!

Good to meet you today Dwayne, enjoyed our little session and look forward to the next, I think we're quite evenly matched even though I had home advantage!

Got your email thanks Rick, I think you'll end up giving me a drubbing though, Dwayne tells me you're a bit handy, from the breaks you're quoting I think he's right.

I'll also come and have a game at Bolehill some time, especially if you play billiards there as I enjoy the 3 ball game, very good way to learn the angles and its definately improved my safety play.

They'd love to have you in the billiards league I'm sure if you can get a partner (only 2 players per team), I might even play if I somehow found the time (which is doubtful!), I think I'm 10 times Bolehill champion lol though usually only about 4 enter every year, still it sounds good to the unititiated!!

In fact two of the other billiards teams in the league play from residential places, one at Tansley and one at Mayfield both from farms I think they are.

We'd have a good idea where we want to expand with the snooker when we get all the entries in for next season - we could even have two regionalised leagues for instance north and south and east or west but it would all have to be sorted out at the committee meetings, so its somewhat in the lap of the gods.

If I have anything to do with anything it'll be a totally different committee next season Ricki and you'll be the one calling those kind of shots, whether you like it or not I'm nominating you.........

Time for change and time for a change in a big way, our league is backwards and needs dragging into this century quick sharp!

No, I keep making the black unplayable off my breaks and the colours ended up all safe most frames, still enjoyed it though, might mave had a 20odd clearing the colours again....

                    Welcome Cuepower and Sully

Welcome to the forum lads... I too will be up for a game either travelling over to your locations or you're all welcome to come over to Clay Cross, where we have 21 lovely Riley tables, bar, restaurant etc... Prob. not this week as am all over the country working on pool tables, we can even get a four up... All play each other and finish off with a doubles for a laugh...

I'm happy to give you lads a few pointers if you're a bit rusty... We can have our very own Derbyshire TSF Society!

Enjoyed the game on Sunday night anyhow Keith, you certainly live up to the name Cuepower as those deep screws seem to be your favourite shots!

I'm also pleased to be knocking a few decent breaks in lately in practice, had a 58 (and then missed black off the spot, though was a bit close to cushion) and a 32 and Keith had a nice 22 which hopefully is a sign of better things to come after such a long time out of the game.

That chalk we have behind the bar is faulty I think, I kept miscueing one day when I had to use it and Keith was the same, so I think the fault lies in the product, not the players lol.

                        Thanks Ricki

Yeah - had a good game if at times frustrating. I do feel like I'm improving with every frame but at times my slightly aggressive play gave you many chances to put in the nice breaks you had tonight. The 58 you had was very good and the 20's in pretty much every frame is solid play and difficult to beat!!

                          Found this:
"Pioneer brand is a budget chalk, not as good as the other brands we sell (it does not stay on the tip as well as those), but it is good if you are on a budget and is also suitable as a club chalk."

Also very suitable if you want to miscue every time you are under the cushion!!

Shan't be recommending we get any more of that stuff anyhow, not that I did in the first place!

                            Also:
"Pioneer is budget chalk and as such is only recommended for children, those on a very tight budget or for use in a pub where chalk is always being stolen. It does the job but serious players are advised to stick to Triangle Chalk."

                            So now we know!!

I'm not far from Hartington, got my my own table, fridge full of brews and good tunes on the jukebox!

Thanks Sean for the session today. You have a really cool setup with a very nice table and it would be nice to play again. I think judging by tonight the pockets on your table are marginally tighter than the table at Bolehill - might need to get the tape measure out!!. I had a nice 22 against Ricki tonight and my deep screw shot is coming back just the positional going haywire. Ricki played well and very solid with 20's in every frame - a 32 and 58 which is difficult to play against at the moment.

No problem Keith, good to meet you and thanks for the beers!

I'm free next wekend if you're up for it, also keen to try the Bolehill club sometime soon if possible, especially as it's a heated table - something I'd like to retrofit to mine.

Interesting you think my pockets are a bit tighter, they actually measure 3.5 inches which is correct (apart from the chuffin brown pocket!!) but I wonder if the cut of the rubber or the drop off point is making them seem tight?

I think the decent breaks will come for you soon Keith, there's nothing wrong with your potting and position was pretty good so just be patient and you'll get there.

I have to say the only reason I beat you is because I went into defence mode a bit while you were trying to knock everything in leaving me easy pots!
