  • Newbie (ish) currently running around Sheffield

    Hi All

New to the forum and sort of new to snooker. Been playing pool (8 ball) for years and dabbled a bit in snooker but never really been any good. However after this years world championship (which is one of the best i've seen) I want to get more involved in snooker.

Going to get down to a local club (probably a rileys) and start practising to see how it goes. I know there isn't really a substitute for practice but can anyone point me in the direction of some good training resources for stance, sighting, shot selection etc etc as well as some good practice drills i can use to improve my game.

    Thanks in advance

    G

Hello there welcome to TSF and no better place to play snooker than Sheffield eh

On another note to people who view, every time i see "practice routines" fergs site pops up not aimed at you jrc750, i agree great site and some great practice routines and ive popped it up a few times myself only because there is nothing else about so surely some master mind webby person could create a similar site with more details on other stuff (if there is anything different that is?)
I have seen tons of threads about practice and tons of great ideas different to whats on fergs site so come on all you webby people who like a challenge fire away im sure many people would gain from it
Just a question to those who can and have the tools already pwetty pwease!!

        Cheers both.

Checked out fergals site and it seems like a decent place to start "getting my eye in" and improving myself. Hopefully it will go well and I can improve on my measly 24 break.

        Crucible here I come!

I'm not sure what sort of standard you are at, but a nice simple one is seeing how many balls you can pot off a certain spot before you miss. Long, straight pots are the best for testing your cueing. Try setting a ball about 18 inches away from a black pocket and putting your white in the 'D'.
