  • Introduction and a question!

    Hey guys and gals!
I'm new to the forum and thought it best to start here :P
I've been playing snooker on and off for a year now and only recently (Last 3-4 months) started playing about 10-15 hours a week.

So, interesting question to start with: I recently played a match where I was trailing by 2 frames in a best of 5. I was kicking myself for missed opportunities etc and decided that when I got to the table I was just going to take the shot as fast as I could. Turns out that by using this method I made my highest ever break and finally won the match 3-2 (Woop Woop!)

My question is, do you find it easier to play if you get to the table and just play a shot without really thinking about it, or do you prefer to triple check everything before playing a shot?

I feel there is a fine balance between overthinking a shot and rushing one . When you give routine shots too much thought you can overcomplicate things and see problems that are not there . On the other hand sometimes when you play shots too quickly you can become sloppy and miss easy ones by complacency or lack of concentration .

It is nice to play with a fluent style and not over complicate things , but there are times when you need to give certain situations more thought and care .

Certain players myself included will fly around the table some days when everything seems to click and come easy then other days when you,re not seeing them so well you have to take more time .

I get what you mean, I'm the same. Sometimes you get to the table and everything just fits into place, in which case I will just fly around the table (Right up until I miss an easy pot due to lack of concentration!!)
I guess it all comes hand in hand with learning the game!
