  • Snooker Newbie seeks Videos

    Hey all,
I am an American living in Boston who travels a lot. I'd often be in foreign countries. When I'm abroad I tend to find my self channel surfing late at night in various hotel rooms, which is how I discovered snooker. Since then I've take to watching replays of matches on YouTube and have really gotten hooked watching the 2010 championships.

Though I'm loving watching the footage I've managed to find, what I haven't found is a good source of consistent footage of tournaments. On YouTube all I can find is intermittent, often disorganized, selections of random matches from random tournaments. I was wondering if there was a good source somewhere online to watch matches that have already happened (as I understand it current matches tend to get streamed?).

Also is there somewhere that will explain to me about the seemingly endless assortment of championships, masters, and other high profile tournaments that all seem to have very similar names?

    Regards,
    Noah

Try entering 'Snooker Shootout 2011' into You Tube, there has only been one of these and each 'match' is only one frame and can be enjoyed on it's own merits rather than it being essential to watch the tournament in order as they are played against the clock (a relatively new concept to Snooker), the twists in each 10 minutes are really exciting. Try if you can to get each round in order, though I'm not sure this is possible.

Wikipedia has a list of tournaments:
