Hi, my name is Stan and I'm a newbie
I been playing the game for 17 years, and first started with a coach called Tony Glew, who had one glass eye - sometimes I feel like I do too when I look at the table!
I later went on to be coached by Alan Bell for a couple of years, who whould come to my house for private lessons on my table and eat my wife's roast dinners.
I have a competitive high break of 87 and several centuries in practise.
I love studying the game almost as much as playing it, all the technical background and stuff so this may have held me back as a player, as good players really need a solid reliable technique and then improve by strong competitive play.
I fell in love with the game watching the White/Hendry finals in the late 80's/ early '90s.
I like the sort of players in the game who have a good character and who look like they have a life outside of the game too.
I'm looking forward to a few discussions, and see if I can contribute to other players, especially when it comes to technical question.
