Hi,
Just saying hi before I have a look around to see what’s going on here.
I am not new to snooker by any means, I started playing in Stratford too many years ago, playing with Mickey Mace, Mickey Turner ( bunson burner) Butch, when Mick Bolyen used to run it. Also played in Leyton, then in Leytonstone for many years with Drago, Terry Whithread ( best left hander of the time ) Dave Gilbert ( giblet) and Jon Wright ( giro ) who insidently was the best man at my wedding. Then when the Green gate opened that was my office for probably 15 years. Hooli came there one day, and I didn’t know him, they told me that "this guy will play you" Aye Aye I thought, a fish. Hahhahahahaha he knocked in a 134 first game, it was funny, FOR THEM  Lee Tucker and I came up together and we always played together, and for those that did used to go to the Green gate, Frigs, Sidle, and Pelligreeni were amongst the usual suspects.
I’ve played at prestatyn, got beet 3-2 by Colin Rosco when I was 2 - 0 up.
Played at Plymouth, went with Terry - Jon - Dave and Gary Filtness whom I am still great mates with.
Played Dennis Taylor when the new club at Dagenham opened, Played John VIrgo when the club at the Abbey Arms opened.
I lived in Barking and played there when Mark King was young, I also played in Ilford when Ronnie was young, I bought a cue from Ronnies dad (many) years ago when they lived in Ilford. I played Ronnie when he was 12, at his house, I think I had 3 or 4 shots. ( I put it down to the new cue )
Then in Rainham, it seemed as though we all moved about to go to where the players were, I always associate people with the clubs, and Rainham was Martin Smith and Gary Keeble, Steve C
I loved my time when I was playing all day every day, and we did have some laughs.
But this was all 30+ years ago, so I doubt any of you know these people, but I am sure some will even if they are not already on here.
6 years ago I immigrated to Cambridgeshire ( near Wisbech ) and I have my own table, but it doesn’t get used much as all my playing mates are still in London.
I have two boys 16 and 13, and the 13 is a left hander who don’t miss, but he won’t play, preferring Xbox, what a waste, this was him on our table 18 months ago -ish . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aoFZAThA6Rc
As you can see, he does have a chance, if only I can get him off of the Xbox.
So, that’s me, I still knock a few in when I get the chance, would love to find a club or tournament to play in that aint miles away, even if I can’t see the end of the table now.
Smiffie.
