    Hey gang,

Just joined up to the forum, it looks great btw, fortunately it's the same type and format as another forum I use so I've managed to get on with it pretty much straight away.

So a bit about me, the names James and I've just recently started playing snooker again after a fairly long absence. I used to play every week in my late teens/early twenties but I've had a fair while away from the game (10 years) and am just looking to start playing a bit more regularly again. I won't be joining a team due to my work shifts which would stop me committing really but I play with a neighbour and enjoy the game a lot. Also play a lot of darts at home and at Rileys which I love too.

I was never fantastic but I was certainly a lot better than I am these days although after a few games I did find a bit of form coming back to me. I'd like to look to be playing each week again if I can.

The only cue I ever had was a pool cue that I used to use, I borrowed my mates cue the other day and the difference between the two was so noticeable (he has a BCE Legends cue). I wouldn't say it made me better as such but certainly made me more confident and felt a lot better.
I'm looking at getting a cue of my own, nothing too flashy but the club ones are pretty bad, any recommendations greatly appreciated or if anyone out there has something suitable they are looking to pass on then please feel free to let me know, I'm sure your all far more knowledgeable than me.

Well many thanks for this site, I'm sure it will be an invaluable resource for me.

Hello mate, and welcome to TFS.
There is plenty to keep you occupied here whatever aspects of the game you are interested in.

With regards to your cue. You should let us all know your budget, and you will undoubtedly get some solid recommendations.

    Cheers.

      Welcome to TSF mate

it's not all about flashy cues or going out spending £200-300 on them, yeah they might be nice and that but at the end of the day it's pretty much the player and their technique.

I have a friend who's been playing since the age of 12, he's now 25 and **** hot! Lol. He's had the same cue all his playing life and still uses it now. It's gone through some tips, but the fact is he brought the cue from Argos for about £15-20.

      Enjoy TSF!

Thanks for the replies, I guess as a budget I'd go with £100 or less

Hi there. Depends on your location. But if you're anywhere near Yorkshire. Then a trip to craftsman cues at kippax and you'll find what you're looking for. Cues for all budgets. Plus they have a table to try them on. Best thing to do if you like the length, weight and top size of your cue. Then measure it up and judge around that. There's plenty to go at on eBay too.

          Good luck

Well I managed to pick up a Cue Craft Eagle from ebay, cost me under £40 delivered with both the extensions so I'm hoping it will be a good first cue and I'll keep my eye out for any other deals in the future.

Thanks for the advice given previously.

If I wanted to re-tip the cue what's a good bet for a tip for a new player, I've read on hear Kamui and MW supertips are both good.

as for the tip, in my opinion a blue diamond/mw will do the job for you.
kamui/talisman and other multi-skinned tips are stronger but might also confuse a player, since their action is a bit different.
