  • hey folks!

joined a couple of weeks ago, started to play a bit more often due to my brother moving back home, was looking around for a new cue and found this website, had a scan through it and this seems like a pretty decent place and decided to say hello to everyone, so err, HELLO! and i decided on my new cue after looking on here for a bit of info and found it all to be really helpful

ive also been trying to edit my profile but im not allowed to, anyone know why that is? or do i need to be a member for a bit before i can do this, look froward to speaking with some of you

    hey folks!

Hi Haggis, I joined here this week as well. Hope the site will help improve my game. Looking to get a new cue as well and this site is giving me some good info for handmade cues.

      hey folks!

I believe you have to have 10 posts(not in newbie section?!) before you can edit things and also receive or send personal messages. But I am reasonably new myself so stand to be corrected.
Welcome to you both and hope u find as much help an advice as I have.
Ps. Keep your eyes on the object ball when striking cue ball I was never doing this and been playing for over 10 years. Found my game improved no end once I started doing this most basic thing!! Never realised 90% of shot setup was done even before u get down to the table! Again I stand corrected by the wiser elders or youngers even! Was never told before! Enjoy.

hey to the both of you, i used to play a long time ago, moved away and when i moved back home my bud had moved on and i never really played much after that apart from when my bro was back from leave (he was in the army) now he's moved back home for good i've played more in the last month than i have done in the last ten years, whats more my dad wants to start playing again too, both good players as well, i still have my old cue but ive always wanted something special but could not justify it, now i can and have been in contact with a chap who is going to make a few adjustments to my current cue and then im getting a custom cue built, its gonna take a while and so it'll give me time to improve (i hope....) before the new one arrives. a good piece of advice was given to me a while ago from my mates uncle (who owned the snooker club i played in) told me to look at the shot i was about to take and walk into it, it made a huge difference too, all of these little bits here and there can make a huge difference!

Welcome Haggis. Where do you play about? Locarno and Shandon clubs at Slateford have good deals on. Play all day for £8! Available Monday to Friday (9.00 am- 6.00pm) and Sunday as well I think.

Nice to see another fellow Scot join. I'm originally from Glasgow although I've been down in Bournemouth coming up 6 years now. Welcome!

hey folks! Usually play at Shandon, also at the ball room on the odd occasion. How do you guys get the saltire and the st Georges cross by the way?

Hi again. I usually play at Locarno but play in the league for Shandon A. Might bump into you sometime.
Its been a while since I put my Saltire on but I think if you click on "My Profile" then "Forum Actions" then select "Edit Profile" from the drop down you can put in some details. I see you've already got in Edinburgh so try putting Scotland in the box marked "Country". Might work.

thanks, I'll give it another try, but when I try and edit my profile etc I just get a message saying I dont have permission to do anything to it, and 'are you trying to edit someone else' profile... Don't get it, not a big deal anyway I suppose, didn't know that the same deals applied to locarno too, pretty good deals too
