Hi folks,

The names mark. I'm from the North East of England, County Durham. Have been playing snooker on and off for the past 5/6 years and have recently started playing more often. My highest break is only 40 and that was with a club cue, have never owned my own cue but now i'm playing more regularly will be looking to purchase one.
Looking to improve my game somewhat aswell, i'm ok at potting but not so good at cue ball control..

Yep, there are loads of "new cue wanted" posts in the cue section, read away and see you in the morning
Take your time and one will pop into view that you will just have to have
Being in Durham I take it that Thornaby, Stockton-on-tees is not that far from you, well Stu Green at Green Baize (www.greenbaize.com) could be close to you. It would not be too bad an idea to take a visit, Stu is very knowledgeable (and a coach I believe) and a great guy to deal with, and has a very good range of cues to suit nearly everyone, and you can try them out as well which is a bonus
I am not saying you have to buy anything from him but you will most probably walk away from there with a very good idea of what suits you and more importantly what does not suit you

Thanks for the advice Dean, yes Stockton isn't far from me at all.. will check out their website. Think that would be the best idea to visit somewhere as I haven't really got a clue as to what I want.

Thats the first thing i'm going to do, just had a look on their website, going to try and get down this week if not it will be early next week, will get some specs written down, might even pick up a cue there.

Stu's shop is like a sweetshop mate, cues everywhere, always a pleasure to talk to him too. GBL cues are top quality too

Yeah I just went for a look, try out a few different weights but as soon as I picked up the first cue I knew I'd be making a purchase. The hard part is just settling on one.

haha, was going to ask. Is it best off just getting one cue to start off with or a couple ? or does it not make any difference?
Do they have some nice cases at Green Baize aswell ?

You should really stick to one cue mate, it's too late for me, but save yourself lol

they have some great cases there as well, Stu has everything. as been said it will be a sweetshop for a cue-sport player
ensure your partner does not know you where you are going or they will hide the bank card

cool, we have seen that happen a few times on here, but she may have a different budget in mind to the wrong end of the scale
