  • Hi there new @ this forum

Played very intensively for 6 or 7 years ( up to 60-70 breaks), the quit for 15 years.
Now since a year started playing once a week again.
Struggling terribly with my cue action and just trying to get rid of all
those bad habbits. Bearly get a 20 break out of it.
Started playing tournaments to get back into it and hate it being
beaten by players who lack the experience and insight in the game.
Frustrating to know how to play the game and not to be able to perform.
Still got my Barracuda Gold medal (3 piece). My only consulation.
    Enough nagging GO AND PRACTICE.

Hi there new @ this forum

Welcome hondarider, hope the forum helps you get back to your best. I was similar, stopped playing for 15 years (75 break best) been playing since last December and I have picked it up really quick. Had 97 in line up and a 92 in open play. Just need to find the consistency now and concentration to do it more often. Good luck mate.

        hi,
im in a very similar position too ! New to the forum and started playing with my son after 15+ years. I was at a decent level and also a pretty successful pool player. It's great to know the game well enough to be able to teach my son but so irritating not to be able to put it into practice ! i get people that know me telling others at the club to " watch out for him he,s good" and when i tell them im not anymore they think your being modest ! you then feel embarrassed when you miss balls over pockets ! i dont expect to be what i was but i hope i soon find just a little bit of form and consistencey. Think i have found that if you try to analise what your doing wrong to much to early, you forget to just concentrate on the shot. think maybe best to just concentrate on your timing as im sure this is my biggest problem after such a long lay off. Maybe a new fancy cue will help !

I know where you're coming from. I played a bit as a junior/amateur then didn't hit a ball for many, many years (other than knockabouts with my mates). Started playing again about a year ago and, like you, I could barely make a 30 break for weeks. Then out of nowhere I hit 90 something and it just all came back. Now I can make tons again (in practise anyway - not played in any comps). The only thing that hasn't really returned is my long potting but I think I'm not playing enough to get my long-potting eye in.

            Anyway, welcome.

I know the feeling mate, it's very frustrating not playing to the standard your used to. I used to play ever night of the week and the game seemed easy back then! but not having played much snooker at all in the last 16+ years it's a different story! I appreciate how hard it is now lol like you say it's all about practice!
