  • New guy signing in with a question..

    Hello guys and guesses.
I signed into the forum to ask a specific question but I'll probably hang around a bit just to confuse and bamboozle you all for a while,
    The question is this .....
How much do today's snooker professionals pay for a set of tools of the trade, i.e., cue, extensions, etc?
I only ask because, when I was a bit younger (22) I went into a Sports shop and paid £32 for a cue. It may not sound a lot now but it was 2 weeks wages and there was only one cue in the shop that was more expensive.
I fancied myself as a player back then but lack of time and the shortage of tables on board ship put paid to that.
    Cheers,
    Steve

Hi and welcome, snooker professionals use various brands, though John Parris would probably be the more common choice for them! The ultimate sells for £700+...

Sorry but not that old chestnut. The majority now do pay for them. Only when JP was starting out in the 80's did he offer to make some of the pros replicas of their cues to get his name going. Now he doesn't need to offer them for free, he is the most famous cue maker in the world and success breeds jealousy.

for a pro the cue case and bits would usually be worth about a grand.
