  • Hi - anyone from Wraysbury (between Heathrow & Windsor) play?

    Hi all,

Glad the site is back online

Do we have any snooker players from the Wraysbury area? I'm keen to start playing again - the closest place seems to be Rileys in Staines though would prefer to find a more traditional/quality club before heading to Rileys!

    cheers!

Yep it is, I played there last Sunday ... the only other place I know in Staines-upon-Thames (we've changed our name and gone posh LOL) is the Conservative Club with 3 tables ... next nearest is probably the Services Club in Egham ...

Good to know it still exists! Not as close as I'd like though...

Thanks for the heads up on the other two - I had no idea of their existence.

I go to Racks in Maidenhead, reasonably easy to get to and lovely tables and great people running the place. Dylan the pro is really friendly and helpful and does great price for lessons. Also tables on two floors and regular stuff happening you can join in with.

thanks for the info - unfortunately, it's a bit too far for me although it sounds great also, just to note Riley's Staines has now closed since my previous posting ...

I live in Staines ... I will pop into Staines Conservative Club at some point to have a look around (I know the managers, Ollie and Jo, lovely people) ... I'll also probably pop down to Riley's Twickenham - only 15 mins on the train and it looks like it's 2mins walk from the station ...

I still haven't popped in to check out Staines Con Club (although I'm sure it will be lovely) ... the reason being two of my mates I play with live in Woking and joined Woking Snooker Centre and sort of turned their noses up when I suggested Staines CC ... I suppose it's only fair - they've been driving over to Staines nearly every Sunday evening for the last few years so I ought to make a bit of effort and visit their home turf ...

I've only played 3 times (about once a month) at Woking Snooker Centre so far ... the tables are great, the nice chap behind the bar says they are ex-tournament cloths from the WPBSA (which I believe) and the cushions are even better - much faster bounce than I was used to at Riley's and the jaws slide rather than square the ball ...

So full marks to Woking SC ... heck, in three visits I've equalled my HB (31) and also hit 20-something at least once or twice per visit ... probably unlikely but even vmax might be proud of me, especially as there hasn't been a blue moon

My only problem with Woking SC is it's very quiet ... they'll make you welcome whatever your standard but they are no pool tables so no pretty girls to admire whilst you're sitting in your seat waiting for your turn Sorry if that sounds sexist, it's not meant to be

However c_man ... if you fancy popping into Staines, I'd be very happy to meet you to check out Staines CC or even for a game of UK 8ball pool at the pub which is mostly what I play these days ...
