  • Hello from Switzerland

    Hello
I am Joe and I live in Switzerland.

Recently I have started to play snooker again with some interest.

I have always watched the Snooker games on Eurosport but never really went back to play the game.

I am an occasional player who is very inconsistent with potting even a simple red by the pocket. I miss all the time.

I have had no training whatsoever, and I learn all the stuff by mimicking players I watch on TV.

I am now looking for my first snooker cue and I am very limited in choices here.
They are either very expensive ones (imported from England) or they are super-cheap ones (eg: www.discountsports.ch).

If you can advise me which cue I should get (I know it is very hard to advise), I will be grateful.

Over here in this country, more people play Pool and not Snooker. I guess they have no patience with so many balls.
    :P

    Joe

Welcome Joe, with regards to improving your game 'Understanding modern snooker with Jack Karnehm' helped me no end, it's quite old now but the game hasn't changed much for the learner...
Don't let the fear of losing be greater than the excitement of winning...

Try to find a copy of Eddie Charlton's Complete book of Snooker. It is a great book to help you learn and improve your snooker. They are often pretty cheap on eBay UK.

      : )
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
      I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

In Adliswil there is The Pot Bellys.
It is run by Darren Parris a former pro.
He has a shop and you can try cues.
Or look at www.snooker.ch and you can find some places to go and ask the players there.
