  • Another newbie (:

    Hi there,

I'm a freshly started lady snooker player in Oxford; I've only been playing for about nine months, so unfortunately I'm not very good! But hard work and enthusiasm will hopefully keep me improving. My high break is 32, so hopefully a few years down the line, I'll get there...

Would love to hear of more women persevering in the snooker world if there are any about!

Welcome to the snooker forum !!

What sort of cue do you have?

Lots to learn on TSF . . .

      : )
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
      I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

        Hi Shaina

The World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association runs women's snooker tournaments in England.

I happen to be their press officer.

          Hi,
a break of 32 if you have only played for nine months is good, keep it up and I am sure you will get there..take care.

I agree with fridgeman. There are many guys on here who have been playing a lot longer than you with the same high break, so good luck to you and keep playing. There are quite a few coaches on here who can answer any question you might have (me being one of them).

I actually just bought a new cue! For the last nine months I've been playing with a Chinese cue I bought in Shanghai, which was actually genuinely very nice for an entry-level cue, but no more than that.

I went up to Sheffield to see the second round of the WC late last week and was sucked in by the flyers being given out for Chesworth Cues... I've had a poke around on TSF and Martin Chesworth seems like quite a polarising character on here, hahaha! But he was absolutely lovely to me, and was very eager and patient - bit of an old-fashioned salesman type, but I didn't mind at all. I ended up walking away with a new Pheonix cue with a pale moon ebony butt, absolutely fell in love with it.

Wow, that's fantastic - I would love to know more about the ladies' snooker community. I'm definitely not good enough to get involved yet, but it would be great to know how everything works.

Join the WLBSA group on Facebook. That carries a load of information and you'll get an idea of how things work.

There is also a WLBSA section on this forum with plenty of history.
