  • New member in Fife.

Hi folks, this is my first snooker forum membership, although i'm a member on lots of other forums of various interests, including shooting, leatherworking, 4x4 forums etc.

Bit of background... I'm 41, from Fife, as mentioned, and I used to play snooker a couple of times a week in my teens, where a youthful, keen eye was very important.

Now, however, getting a leg up on the table for a long shot isn't too easy lol.

So I just started playing again, and hope to make it a much more regular thing, but it's proving difficult finding any decent snooker halls close by. Tried Styx (Ambassador) in Kirkcaldy, which I was impressed with.. Plenty of tables and lots of pool tables, too. If anyone has any other good places local, then i'd appreciate a heads-up.

So that's me... I'm not particularly good at snooker, but it's something I enjoy, and keep going back to

    Great looking forum.

    welcome to TSF
Many years ago I was B&Bing in Kirkcaldy (Bennochy Road?), working over in Methil, and used to walk round the corner to the snooker hall, Ambassador Victoria Road I think it was, with loads of tables.
    Great times

Yeh that's the same one - Just behind the Victoria Hotel. It's also a 'Styx' nightclub now, so I suppose it helps bring in money during the day. I remember going to another club on the esplanade in the 80s, which i'm sure was also called the Ambassador.

yep, used to collect a colleague from the Hotel, obviously have a pint while waiting, then walk into the club.
here's a couple of Qs for you
          1) Jackio's nightclub
          2) Valente chip shop

          still there?
          gawd, the memories
          cheers matey

Think Jackie-Os has been demolished! That was the one on the front? Think the chippy is still there, though.

I don't really go to Kirkcaldy very often tbh, but probably will now with the snooker. Riley's in Dunfermline used to be my local snooker hall until they closed recently.

Welcome to the Forum mate. Real problem finding somewhere good to play nowadays. If you're ever over in Edinburgh pop into the Locarno in Slateford. Great club with good bunch of lads. A few very, very good players.

Cheers - Yeh i'd heard of one called CJ's and maybe a '147' club? Used to go to one in Rosyth next to a roundabout, which is now an Indian restaurant!

Are you the same chap who sells snooker gear online (Suppose the sig gives it away!) I was looking at your stuff last night. Might be looking for a better cue soon.

Makes me feel a bit silly selling a beautiful old Mannock cue on fleabay a few years back! ***Sigh***

No, it was actually a pro player/collector... He phoned me to arrange payment by bank transfer if I remember rightly.

Well, couldn't stand the newly-found itch any more... Had to take another trip to the hall

Played much more consistently today, and was using some of the coaching tips i'd been watching on youtube and the likes. Seemed to work, at least to some extent!

Roll on next week and another trip :snooker:

Hi mate I stay in Rosyth and play in the 147 club which is across the road from CJS pool hall
the place is a lot busier now since Rileys shut and they have just got new Aramith balls today.

They also do 3 hours for a tenner and the people that frequent the club are great
as are the owners , see you down there sometime.
