  • converting from pool to snooker

    Hello

I'm new here. Been mainly a pool player but not got into Snooker. can never get past 50 break and more usually its 3 reds and black and that's me, but I still love it. I sit firmly in the camp of the Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan Jimmy White and Judd Trump style of playing (not that I'm suggesting Alex was like Judd or vice versa but I think you probably know what I mean.

A pool player joined my snooker team last year and after one season he's hooked. He's selling his pool cue(8mm tip) and buying a decent Parris snooker cue and likened the two games to Go-karting and Formula 1. Both fun, but one is the real deal.
I often use large words I don't really understand in an attempt to appear more photosynthesis.

I have played snooker on and off for a few years. Mainly due to very high prices at the local snooker club. Which has now been taken over and is very good price wise so i can afford to commit to snooker lol

But over the years i have been dominantly a pool player at a high standard. I dont find the transition too strange but you need to remember it is a completely different game. Pool is pot pot pot and in such a small area positional play is easy and there is no such thing as a long pot.

I do believe pool has helped me become a better potter to the middle bags though, from some very tight angles i am happy to take on middle pockets because atleast for me i think they are more forgiving and an easier target than they are on the pool table.

I would be interested to hear if anyone else agrees or has similar thoughts.

Anyway i am now giving up on league pool and have been asked to play snooker for the local club. Which i am very excited about.
I now play 2-3 times a week for a few hours and to be honest the pool table feels stranger to me than the snooker table now

I love the go karting to f1 analogy. It is very true!
