Hello there everyone. I am delighted to have joined The Snooker Forum I have been visiting the forum for a number of years as a guest but finally have got round to creating an account. I live in Glasgow and have been a snooker fan since I was 10 years old my favourite player is Alan McManus which is given away in the name! I play snooker on a weekly basis and I'm a member of the Q Club in Glasgow coincidentally the club where my favourite player practices. Being Scottish I'm also a fan of Drew Henry who may ring a bell for some although he has been off the tour for a good few years which is a shame. Anyhow less of that! I look forward to posting on here and would be intrigued if I came across any fellow Alan McManus fans out there.

Way back in the mid-80's I used to live in Glasgow and played at Reardons downtown. Used to play with Jimmy McNellan, Kenny MacIntosh, John Rea and Jim Donnelly,
I believe I remember John Higgins and a couple of other young fellows one of whom may have been Alan come in one day. I remember because their cue cases were taller than they were and I can't remember if they practiced or not as we were consumed with our game of 'follow' (not sure what it was called in Glasgow but you paid 10P for what you left and if someone ran a ton you were out 10pounds!)

I believe there are two Reardon's Clubs in the Glasgow area thesedays but the one situated outside Glasgow Central Train Station is by far the more popular of the two. I think this may be the one you are talking about as I've seen one or two pro's in there. Interesting to hear about John Rea and Jim Donnelly I've not heard much about John in the last few years but I know that himself and Murdo Macleod played in the Scottish Professional Championship a few years back. Jim Donnelly's also a good coach from what I've heard. I've heard your pretty good yourself !

Thanks for the welcome everyone. That's right about Alan he's been playing quite well this year he had a good run to the quarter's of the Welsh Open in February and I think he surprised a lot of people reaching that stage before unluckily losing to Maguire. He also got to the World Open and the Crucible as you said. He's a better player than his ranking position suggests an excellent tactical player on his day if only he score a bit heavier like he used to he'd get more results but there's certainly been a few signs of improvement recently. I'm not going to say he's going to reach the heights of his earlier career when he was an extremely consistent player but there's no reason he can't have a good season and push up the rankings the way he's playing.
