In case you were wondering (or crazy enough to try and beat it) . . .
Colin Pilcher and Marc Murray played 8-ball billiards continuously for 72 hours, 2 minutes and 7 seconds. The duo started at 7 pm on July 31st, 2011 and finished shortly after 7 pm on August 3rd, 2011. The final score was Pilcher’s 335 wins to Murray’s 321 wins.
Rules
- two participants must play entire match
- players permitted a five-minute break every hour
- must play entire match on same table
gosh that is a long, long time ... well done to them I watched a bit of that video, the standard wasn't bad considering the enormity of the challenge ... table looked pretty slow though ...
in response to the question, does GWR do drug testing, the answer is yes, when some friends and I did a marathon pool session, GWR said they have the right to come along at any time and if so deemed can request blood samples for analysis.
by the way, we set a new record at 102hr 5 mins (team of 6)
back to the thread, yes you need at least two registered witnesses at all times, not that GWR told us that they had to be a pool-official type, only that they both had to be non-relative to all participants, "of good standing", and registered citizen.
Good luck with the attempt, and repeat "where is the attempt being held, where you need witnesses"?
