  • Guinness World Record Attempt

Hi All, great to be part of the forum. I would like to know if there is anyone out there who can help me with a situation i have !!!
In 2 weeks time myself and another snooker friend will be attempting to break the current World Record for the longest singles snooker marathon of 50 hours. We need two witnesses all through one of which has to be a professional of some sort in the snooker environment i.e professional player or referee, or somebody who runs a snooker club etc.
If you can help please post me a.s.a.p as the attempt is 22nd -24th August and need to send details of witnesses to G.W.R before the event. Thanks Lambo

Tempted to try and break this 50 hour world record too . . .

I would be pretty drunk at the end though.

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
      I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

I don't think they will be drinking alcohol if they have to stay awake for over 50 hours. Maybe just lots of Redbull and plenty of coke!

Do they drug test World record attempts?

if that's the case, I'd have an ambulance on standby ... way too much caffeine ...

There is a record for playing snooker underwater:

The longest marathon playing snooker underwater (relay) was 24 hr 00 min organized by Christian Farnbauer (Germany) in Betzenstein, Germany, on 24-25 June 2011. Other team members included Joachim Lorenz, Andreas Belz, Markus Wolf, Armin Maierhofer, Claudia Piesche, Joerg Lucinski, Marko Goetz, Markus Stiegler, Ulrike Winkler, and Markus Roppelt (all Germany).

Two participants had to be playing at all times, and the groups of two rotated once every hour.

I hope so. I wonder what the highest break was?

I just found this video (pool not snooker).

Looks like you need a bit of power to move the balls . . . it would be a long game of snooker if played underwater.

In case you were wondering (or crazy enough to try and beat it) . . .

Colin Pilcher and Marc Murray played 8-ball billiards continuously for 72 hours, 2 minutes and 7 seconds. The duo started at 7 pm on July 31st, 2011 and finished shortly after 7 pm on August 3rd, 2011. The final score was Pilcher’s 335 wins to Murray’s 321 wins.

                              Rules
                              - two participants must play entire match
                              - players permitted a five-minute break every hour
                              - must play entire match on same table
