Thanks Fred. I am really liking Peradon Cues as my mate recently purchased one ( Peradon Royal ) and i loved it so i to ordered one to that will be arriving shortly! I see they have a reputation for being a bit sticky but honestly i never felt it on his cue and it did not feel heavily lacquered at all but gee it was great to pot with and the difference between it and my regular Aussie made local manufacturer Cue is worlds apart!!

Can't wait for it to arrive!!

The peradon you have purchased may well have a varnished finish and will become sticky over the coarse of a session. My recommendation (if it's varnished) is to send to a cue doctor to have it stripped of varnish and an oil finish applied. Oil has the advantage of allowing the wood to breathe and allow any moisture content in the cue to escape whilst the varnish is a sealed coat. A painstaking job but definatley worth it for the end result. Happy potting mate.
I'm not knocking peradon cues by the way, I used one for 15 years. Well made cues IMO, but varnish spoils the cues.

Thanks Fred and the advice is much appreciated.

If it is anything like my mates i don't think i will have a problem but in saying that i only played 2 frames with it and i am not a real sweaty person! After playing all day things may change and if need be i will put my glove on or rub extra chalk between my thumb and index finger for a nice smooth glide.

Will let you know how it goes though for sure mate.

Ha!! 3:15pm here in Australia and i am about to set up my 1st rack for the day after work!!

Coaching though is great and i could use it for sure as i am only an average player ( Average break of 20-25ish )after having 5 yrs off after i moved out until i recently got a table of my own and boy did the Snooker bug hit again once it was in the house! I am loving it and really annoyed with myself for waiting so long but with kids and the wife etc these things that i want get put on the back burner a fair bit but not anymore!! lol

Really hoping in the next 6Mths to improve my break to around a 40-50 average and i can see my new Peradon helping me achieve that!

I'd be in dreamland with my own table at home!!!! Enjoy mate. I would suggest you get a few private lessons. Any good coach could iron out any flaws in your game almost immediately. I be been playing the game for 35 years and only recently had some lessons. The difference was astonishing!!! My cue action has become a lot more free flowing. My breaks have increased form about a 40(ish) average and I'm knocking in 70/80 regular now. I'm certain you would benefit. If it can help a 42 year old stubborn scouser like me it can help anyone.

Goodnight Chappy, going to try some shut eye again. Happy potting

For sure and i have watched a heap of Gareth Potts on Youtube and his coaching Videos are great and i have taken a fair bit from them and the 7 part series where he coaches 4 blokes who won a competition to attend is really good!! Even though it is 8 Ball he does give some very good tips about the fundamentals of the game and they are well worth a view.
