  • hello from germany

    hi folks,

my name is Tom, i live in the very western part of Germany close to Düsseldorf and play snooker since the early 1980's when it was brought to us by television. I am a lazy butt and hardly ever practise but have fun with the game without much serious ambitions. My best break is a 89 long ago, that's why i cannot consider myself a player yet, i never made a century. Still proud of it, it was in a local tournament, 12 reds and 11 blacks with the maximum still on, kind of a magic moment to me. My heroes in the game are the usual suspects: Jimmy White, Alex Higgins and later Ronnie O'Sullivan, but i also like the style and grace of Walter Lindrum who i discovered on an old VHS tapes in the 1990's playing some trick shots and explaining English Billiards.

My favourite cue makers are Will Hunt and Robert Osborne, I bought one of those magic is Hunt & O'Byrne black plates back in 1985 and still play it. I also have one of Robert's cues for spare as well but only play it occasionally when i am too lazy to change the tip of my regular cue. Robert also made me a fabolous new butt (1 inch longer) for my old stick, which helped my game a little and made the cue even better.

I am looking forward to meet you here and discuss the game, players, cues and all other things snooker.

    Cheers, Tom.

    Welcome to TSF . . .

Lots to read and learn on this forum.

Pics of your cue would be good. But you need 10 posts to PM and post pics.

    Enjoy.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
    I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

did it myself using an old 3d proggy called "truespace" ... simple rotating cube with images for the sides. then converted to animated gif with another program called "gif movie gear". no rocket science
