well i just said what i think and i really dont have anything against him cause i know what is going inside hes head from time to time cause i have had the same problems as he in the past
i was just trying argue with some ronnie fan but from all replys i got i must say that all of u guys seem to be really cool, and really smart
and one thing u should know about ronnie is that he is good only when his oponnent is weak
when he sees that the oponnent is losing his touch he will attack and he will play fast and just annoy them more and more, but when opponent is strong (i mean mentally strong) he doesnt stand a chance against them
i know u all must know what i mean
I think you've got to give credit where it's due. Say what you will about Ronnie's personality (although I think a read of his autobiography might make you reconsider a few of those criticisms) but he is an exceptional talent.
To some extent his natural fluency and touch comes through in all his games but for some recent examples of where it all comes together, try the Masters finals of 2005 or 2007, or any of the 2004 World championship. I went to an exhibition of his last month and he knocked in two maximums, almost three. At times he plays snooker like no one else has ever played it. He's had an indifferent season by his standards but is still miles ahead in the century lists.
In short, he's a superb player when his head is in the right place, still regarded by most (including Hendry) as 'the man to beat'. This is coming from a Hendry fan, and I think most others would tell you the same thing. Which one is actually better just depends on your definition, it's a question that's been discussed dozens of times before, but I think we should all be able to agree that they're both great players.

Hi Tony,welcome .
I think I know what you mean,even though I don't necessarily agree.
I wouldn't say he's good only when he's opponent is weak, but IMO he is one of those players who have the ability to sense weakness in their opponents and use that to their advantage.
I'm not one of Ronnie's biggest fans by any means, and I'm also sick of certain commentators talking about players as if they were gods at times, but I do appreciate Ronnie's talent and the way he plays when at his best.

Well, that's also a strength, isn't it? That just made me wonder - what's ROS' overall score in matches against Peter Ebdon? A quick search yielded no answers, is there a Statman around?
.........and welcome [Chairman of the Anti-O'Sullivan Brigade], and I do hope that you've been taking minutes of all the posts, so you are fully equipped for your next meeting with the rest of the brigade..
Seriously though, very interesting comments from both yourself, and the guys on TSF. It would be very boring if we all had the same viewpoint, although personally I think Ronnie is an outstanding talent, and a naturally gifted player. There are also other outstanding talents: Hendo, and Davy [Steve Davis, that is.], just to mention a few.
..........and you maybe interested in seeing Ron's website www.ronnieosullivan.biz, which should give you more of an insight into Ronnie as a person, and a player, from the fans' perspective. [really great website, and the fans/members are great too.]
Hiya
Its good that we all have our own opinions on people, ans personally I am not a ronnie fan, and when he walked out of a snooker match against Hendry, made me think even less of him.
Steve Davis has always been the ultimate professional, funnily enough not as well liked in the early days as he is now, but i believe in his prime the most feared player ever to pick a cue up

Looking for a uk, brand new car or van?, look no further, drop me an email or pager now, I will beat any dealer on the road price ! Q
Well, I'm no huge fan of Ronnie's personality(yes he is arrogant!) or antics either..and certainly not of some of his too-crazy fans, but..and yes there is a but folks...he can be a FAB snooker player at times, no doubt about it...so you got to give him some credit for what he has accomplished.
I like Hendo alot and several others so I'm sure we will find some common ground! Welcome to TSF! Enjoy!
Most of the arguments of the anti Osullivan brigade are about his attitude...and I fully understand this because about the quality of his game as a snookerplayer there is no doubt of course. And you could even say that his charming arrogance suits him.
well i was reading all of your comments and i must say some are really nice ones
oymyakon good
april madness good
robert602 good
blondie good
belfast 141good

but we all must agry at that
and this also
hendry is the only one who comes closer to god from this sport
like maradona, jordan or schumaher in other sports
sorry but thats the trouth
the other ones will die someday and nobody will ever remember them after some time
but he will stay always
im just telling u facts
. Those aren't facts tony, they're just your opinions and frankly I think overwhelming opinion suggests, for one thing, Ronnie has style and entertainment value in buckets.
I do wonder then, did you come here just to start an argument? I think we've all been pretty reasonable with you, there's no need to get personal. Calm down a bit.
I'm going to close this thread because firstly this isn't the place for it, and secondly we're only treading old ground. If you want to discuss Ronnie or anything else open mindedly then start a new thread on it, leave the personal attacks out.
