    Hello forum,

I have just joined by local club at 32 - I've always wanted to play but previously only played pool. I'm a big believer in finding out how to do things even at a novice level rather than just mucking about and found this forum... I'm hoping I can pick up a few basic tips to help me find the game more enjoyable, rather than almost aimlessly hitting balls around (my highest break is 9 and I very rarely can even string a red and colour together!)

Should I ask noob questions in this thread or is it just for saying hi?

Thanks - I wasn't sure if real noob questions would clutter the proper forums

tell us why you love the game of snooker.
I am a big fan of watching snooker on TV and know just enough about the game to realise how ridiculous the top guys are. Being pretty un-sporty, snooker appeals to me as a game of precision and also a single-person rather than team sport. Plus, I'm a bit of a loner so being able to go and practice on my own is rather pleasant!

Durham city (England). I use my pool cue since it is half-decent, rather than use the club cues. I thought I might practice a bit more before buying a snooker cue, so I can have some idea what I'm looking for!

Welcome to the forum. Ask anything you like and if it's not meant to be here, it can be moved/re-started elsewhere. The forum mods are pretty easy going here.
