    Hey everyone,
New to the forum, just another snooker enthusiast like yourselves Fell in love with the game about 2 years back and have been obsessed/ practising everyday since. My dream is to one day compete down in the Uk...although I am currently living in Canada and am nowhere close to being that good yet Highest break so far is 84...getting closer to the century mark haha. Cheers!

Welcome to the Forum. Are you playing in any tournaments? There is one on Jan 11th at Monte Carlo which is a qualifier for the Richler Cup and that has prize money of $20,000. $30 entry, best of 5, starts at noon. No jeans or trainers but golf/polo shirts are fine.

There will be another one in London at Strokers a couple of weeks later, check out the snookercanada website from time to time for announcements.

There are also ranking tournaments held by the Ontario Snooker Association, $40 entry, best of 7, dress shirt, vest, dress pants and shoes. Tournaments and regs are listed on snookerline.com and they have 14 this season. Qualify for the Ontario Championships only but can purchase a spot to play in the Canadians for $350, held in June I believe at The Corner Bank in Scarborough.

Welcome aboard Oma, PM with your email and maybe we can get together sometime. I have my own Steel Block Westbury in my home and so does Terry. One mistake in Terry's post, the qualifier is $50 not $30.

Hey Terry, Wow thanks for the welcome/information Ive been to Monte Carlo once before, nice place. (Very tight tables) I usually practise down at Master Q in Markham. I appreciate the tourny invite, its something im definitely looking forward to playing in though when I feel I'm a more consistent player. Ive only heard compliments about your Coaching on this forum so far would love to get some pointers or two as I've never had any formal coaching before. Are you from the GTA as well?

I think Terry can give you the instruction you need to get to the next level. I can give you the instruction on how not to play..... looking forward to catching up with you one day. I actually play at Master Q about once a month. I meet up with Cliff Thorburn for a chat and some practice.

Les was right regarding the entry fee. It has to be payed beforehand to the tournament guy for the Richler Cup who is in Montreal, paypal or Interac so it's easy as you just email the money. The reason I mentioned it is because this upcoming tournament on Jan 11 is meant for the less skilled players and if you have an 80 break then you would fit right in. (I squeeked through as a 'less skilled player')

I am in southern Ontario but about 25km north of Guelph or about 1-1/2hrs from 401/Yonge St. I have a BCE Westbury steel blocked with 1G balls and Hainsworth Precision cloth which is very fast but it's getting a little worn out now so I'm looking to get my table re-clothed once I speak to Pat McCarthy.

Yea I know, I am so addicted to this game and feel like I should be playing much better with the time I spend on my table, it's like I have a split personality.....LOL I pot them in my room with authority driving the cue straight through and hand into chest then match time comes and I am talking the simplest game with even my son and I turn into this whimp that rolls the ball, don't think and stab at it. When I finally get everything to come together in a match it will be pure brilliance.....
