Just like to open with the above, who would be the most boring player of the last 30 years.........
J Higgins
Well mate, you obviously haven't watched John play...especially not in this semi-final...if THAT was boring, I'm wondering...what is NOT boring to you??
We obviously don't have the same favourite player!
Welcome to TSF!
When Ebdon's on form I really enjoy his matches. His fluency and his shot selection make him an interesting player. Ebdon-Higgins in the UK Semi final was for me one of the best matches this season. When he's playing badly it's unfortunately a different story, but on the positive side always makes for an intriguing contest to see how different players deal with a real grinder. We don't have many these days.
I enjoy watching Davis play as well. His usual playing style isn't what you'd call exciting but it's sufficiently different from the 'modern game' to make it at least interesting, and some of the safety he plays is as good as any long pot. I suppose the fact that he's quite a personality in the game and the oldest man on the tour make him all the more watchable as well.
I can't speak for Thorburn and Charlton, I haven't seen enough of them. We don't see Bond on TV much either. I must confess I don't find him compulsive viewing but even he can give us thrillers.

The ebdon dott final last year made me glad i live a long way from a tall bridge! - in fact it took me longer to recover from the whole depressing affair than it will take matthew stevens to bounce back from his defeat in the quarters- thorburn was a serious grinder - the ref would call it ungentlemanly conduct these days i think!
I don't find Ebdon boring. He's just very focused.
I find Ronnie O'Sullivans antics boring.
You play a long slow deadweight red to a corner pocket. As it approaches the pocket, a kamikaze woodlouse crawls out from under the cushion and makes its way across the table, conflicting with the path of the red precisely at the point the red gets there. The red, needless to say, veers off course, and the future of the woodlouse is uncertain. - The Statman
I lived long enough to "hear" this too. 'Ronnie' and 'boring' are antonyms , he can be everything ya want but not boring ... (my opinion fcourse) .
To pick one from the list i'd say Bond , and to a certain extent Ebdon , but not always.

..........and welcome to tsf, and enjoy the forum.
And I would have to pick Ebbo too, only because his play is slow, mind you, this could be down to him being extremely focussed, so could be worse, I suppose.
Ebdon is boring when he plays slowly, but when he doesn't, he's a joy to watch. His emotional outbursts are quite a change from the deadpan faces we usually see. I don't particularly /like/ him, but I can't label him boring. I reserve that for people like Andy Hicks. Never really does anything that stands out in any way. Even ol' Nigel got quite interesting last year in the first round.

Spot on. Well, maybe that incident with Hann stands out a bit.

Absolutely. I think he is a bit underrated.. He hasn't really got the break building skills (he still made 2 centuries against Ebdon), but his tactical game is superb. Ebdon admitted that Bond played better than him, even though he lost 10-7. I think Nigel will stay on the main tour for quite a few years.
