  • recommended online website to purchase cues

hello all, just did an intro part earlier on.. forgotten to state my location. well im located in south east asia, to be specific, Malaysia.

i am looking to get an UK made cue and it seems pretty tough to get a good ones with reasonable price here in my country. Peradon here already cost an arm which i can easily get a more quality cue from the sites in the UK.

Came across a few sites, but that is just about all.. so i want to know if there is any recommeded site that u all uses here?

    what i came across:
    http://www.maximumbreak-snooker-store.com/
    http://www.billiardsboutique.com/

im comparing peradon cues between the websites and maximumbreak offers the best price.

    any more insights guys?

It sounds as if you're looking for a ready-made cue rather than a custom. If you do want a custom cue there is Mike Wooldridge (google it), Trevor White (no website but can contact him by PM on here), Andy Travis, Jim Evans, Richy McDonald - all on here too. Robin Cook is another and he has a website.

Then of course there's always John Parris who has a website and does have some cues in stock and you can have them modified to your specs pretty quickly. Now if you want one of his Ultimates the wait is 18-24 months.

Also highly recommended is GreenBaize - just google it. He stocks tons of cues but they mostly come from Thailand so you may want to order and see if you can get delivery directly from the factory as it might be cheaper than shipping to UK and back.

On the China page it says "We have set up another workshop where the Coutts and Cook cues will be made from start to finish, without this we would not be able to make enough of our own individual cues. Please be assured that the quality of the new cues will be second to none."
Which pretty much says to me that neither Robin or Dave even touch these cues, so why the ridiculous prices !!

Agreed of course they don't touch them, they had a quick photo together with a load of shafts and that's probably the last time they spoke

Why not? If they've worked hard enough and produced enough quality over the years to cash in on their name/brand then fair play...

                Work smarter, not harder...

A lot of high horses on here at times.

It's not what we are getting at now is it pottr, yes business is business and fair play to anyone who makes a few quid but earning money on a name and swapping the quality and craftsmanship is entirely different

Business is business... Selling cues is their business... I'd rather make 100% of the money for doing 10% of the work... If you're saying you wouldn't, then as much as I respect your opinions... I would say you are not being entirely honest with yourself.

if they're basically cues made under 'licence' they shouldn't really have the same price tag as cues made in their own workshops. Its scandalous to the punter... but if I was the maker I'd probably do it if mugs were willing to pay £500+ for a Chinese cue I'd never seen, let alone touched.

Perhaps they should have a secondary badge stating where they've been made, eh JRC? lol

.... or not as the case may be

I think the price of these cues is over a grand actually, in my opinion it's theft lol

We'll, if you're paying that sort of money for a cue without due diligence then you deserve to be taken in my book...

You wouldn't drop 200k on a house without checking it wasn't mud and twigs x
