I always used to enjoy watching your father play. He was a very entertaining player.

        Hi Mike,

.........and welcome to tsf, enjoy yourself here.

And what a great family connection to have, and such a great player as well.
Stupid question, but do you play snooker too?, I have for the last couple of years, and need to keep the old practising going, but really enjoying it. And the guys here are really great as well, especially with all their coaching tips and advice.

        Have fun...

        Lol....xx

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum!

I too loved to watch your dad play, always with a smile on his face.

I have a lovely old archive video of him, aged 16, being coached by Joe Davis at Burroughes & Watts Hall, London. Joe's running commentary went somethink like - "and now I've told Cliff to take this red in to the corner pocket, which he's done very well, very nice too, Cliff, mmm".

Great to have you on here anyway!

              Hi Mike & Welcome

If memory serves me correct, Cliff didnt practice much at all, he seemed to have so much natural ability, a quick player and fun to watch.

                  Hi Mike and welcome,

If you look at most of my posts you will note that I like to give a little story about players I have seen, played or met. This post is no different....

I only saw your father play (live) once, it was at Prestatyn in one of the festivals of snooker in possibly '88, '89, or '90 (forgive me if I am totally wrong - Age rots the brain!!). I remember this because the big draw on one of the tables set up down stairs was this new kid 'Stephen Hendry'... However whilst watching this I could hear huge uproars of laughter from another table, being the inquisitive person I am, I went to look... Your father was telling jokes, making comments, laughing with his opponent, laughing at himself, and also losing, but that didn't matter because he was having fun, and making sure all around him did too....

Anyway, welcome to TSF... Let us all tell jokes, make comments, laugh with each other, and most important laugh at ourselves.
