If a brand new cue had a 'stiff' shaft, would it lose a bit of its stiffness with play and break in ? No pun intended. Would it become a little more supple over time or keep its original characteristics. Conversely can a stiff shafted cue be manipulated to give it a little more flex to make it more lively? Thoughts anyone?

If you rub a good oil in it it'll stay stiff longer, just remember to leave it 24 hours before every finish

Iv got a classic which had a 9 mm tip. Had it cut down to a 9.5. It now feels abit 'dead'. Also feels heavy ( 19oz). J6 would you recommend having some taken off the middle? Would that sort it? I wish I tried out a few cues now before purchasing one 😕

i wouldnt recomend anything without having it in my hands, even with an educated guess there always gonna be a risk with how the cue will play when you cut into it.
when making a cue i tend to work an play the cue till i get it playing to its potencial

The cue played ok. Plenty of reaction on the cueball but I was putting that down to having the 9. I'd gone from an old cue with a 10mm to this 9mm & it felt like the tip was too small. Almost lost amongst the cueball if you get me? So I had it lopped off. Can't help feeling that I made a bad decision with that. I just wondered whether taking a mm or 2 from the middle to the butt would reduce weight, as well as liven it up abit.....
