I love the game but having received a coaching lesson the coach said I would never be any good as my leading eye is the right eye yet I am a left-handed player. My question is ; how can Ronny O'Sullivan play with both hands successfully?

Loads of players that are right handed are left eye dominant ...and it has no hinderance on their game .

Neil Robertson is left handed and right eyed and seems to amounted to some little level.
as long as you are seeing the lines of aim etc it does not matter which eye is dominant. I think many people over complicate this eye thing
I concur find another coach, a good coach will work with what you have and not be negative about your body which can't be changed.
Also forget about how Ronnie (and any other player) do what they do, do what you are comfortable with.
where are you located maybe a TSF member knows of a better coach

ROS can do what he does coz he's practiced for 2/3 hours every day of his life since he was 8 years old... There is a talent myth about ROS... It's hard work, desire and dedication coupled with aptitude.

You want to be like him, you need to go back to when you were 8 years old and start practising like crazy. No other way.

It's not just hard work, there's conditioning too...

His own table at 8, ferried up and down the country to play in pro ams and practice with top amateurs from the age of 10... His table bills at other clubs settled monthly...

If you provide those tools for a kid and the kid enjoys what he's doing, it's impossible for him or her not to prosper.

I think Stephen Hendry doesn't get enough credit for arguably being more naturally talented than Ronnie; Stephen first picked up a cue at 12 years old and made his first century at 14... World Champion by 21

How do we judge natural talent? Would making a 147 in under 6 minutes enable you to have more natural talent than others?

Maybe you're onto something Pottr. In the junior tournaments about 15 years ago, there was a player at Keynsham who started playing the roughly the same time and age as Trump, same intensity of practice/desire etc, both receiving coaching from the club owner etc... but Trump made his first century break at 10 years old and the other chap at 12 years old

Hendry was a stone cold killer with solid technique that held under pressure. Thats always been his strength...His work ethic in combination with a great degree of natural ability. This is true, but what qualities do you personally think make natural ability?

Ronnie first started playing on full-size tables at 8, Trump at 6 years old... so going by that they already had a 4 and 6 year head start on Stephen respectively...

Speaking about dominant eyes i can never figure out the way Mark Allen plays. he sights with his left eye and is left handed, so why does he need to jutt out his chin the way he does? You'd think the cue would fall naturally under his left eye, not as if he's got a chin like Peter Beardsley, though he's probably encroaching on Stephen Lee territory in that respect.
