  • Hi from France !

    Hi,

I'm Aurélien (but you can write "Aurelian" in English ). A 23 yo billiard player. I finish my studies in law, in Lyon.

Snooker is my favorite game for a long time now... but I want to progress, so I work hard now.

I recently order a Special cue from John Parris, with the O'Sullivan cue's design. But I will have it in a long time (about 14 month I hope).

I'm here to find some exercises to increase my playing and to read some stuff about snooker gear, players and other...

Thank you for this cool forum.

    Aurelian.

No, I regret that, but no. Only one in my town (and it's a little tired table...). The nearest is in Lyon (i'm not anymore in this town). But there's "only" 8 snooker tables in this room.

The only famous billiard in France is the 8-pool. I'm in a team, but to be honest... this is not a really interesting game. Snooker is really better than 8 pool.

But unfortunately, this is complicated to change the habits.

In France, billiard is more seen only as a pub game...

Thanks at all of you for your welcome

There are a few in the pas de Calais, a good venue in Saumur where the military officers play.

                  Bienvenue Aurélien!

You found a great place here to get advices/exercises/any help you want! We are a few French folks as well

About the state of snooker in France, unfortunately, it is very worrysome. Loads of snooker halls have closed down, we have less and less tables to play on and the remaining ones are often in poor state. We now only have 2-3 rooms with 6+ tables, no more....So a bit tough to organize decent championships, to say the least. Mind you the final of the French championships is a best-of-5 match...:/ And the number of players is in steady decline for years now...
Hopefully, we have a couple of places like my club in Strasbourg when we have a 4 tables, 2 of them are match table with tight pockets, steel block cushion and a Strachan cloth. If only all clubs could do the same.....
