Hello all,
I must admit I have not had much exposure to proper snooker, but I have spent most of the last 15-odd years playing 8-ball and 9-ball. Unfortunately there aren't many places near my home town that have full-sized snooker tables.. About 3 years back I got myself a beautiful table with high speed black cloth for myself here at home, now I play a number of games almost every evening.
After looking around at a few different pool/snooker forums, I decided to register on this one because of the greater number of members, and thus a better chance at getting some answers to a few questions that I have. Perhaps someone would be kind enough to direct me to the most appropriate sub-forum for my queries?
First, a bit of context: late in 2007 I was involved in a rather serious motorcycle accident, from which I walked away from a total write-off with severed nerves in my left brachial plexus, leaving my left arm paralysed from the shoulder down.. I have managed more than reasonably well playing pool with one hand, to the level that I (still) actually win the majority of my games. These days I am able to play some pretty accurate jump shots by "stabbing" at the base of the ball. I also found it dead simple to work out side spin on the cue ball, with my forward/backward spin shots close behind it.
Still, I would like to have the tools to allow me to play at my previous level, since it is quite simply not the same anymore... Lately I have been thinking about an attachment that would effectively give my pool cue a set of "movable fingers", intended to be mounted in the area where a player would normally place their cue support hand. Putting this idea into a slightly less sci-fi scene; this would be much like having the head of a cue rest permanently mounted on my pool cue, attached using a linear slide to allow normal cue movement.
Which area of these forums would be the most appropriate to share more details of my idea and get some feedback and/or suggestions?
