newbie to perosnal cue advise for cue tip and chalk

Hi all

i am a newbie to personal cue, have been playing snooker for 10 years can never afford one.

i have purchased a WOODS cue 60" 21.5 oz wuth 9.3mm cue tip

would like to ask that is it very important to change a branded expensive cue tip and what type of chalk is suitable?

your cue is a bit heavy especially with 9.3 tip..
Yeah a good branded tip makes a lot of difference with playability...
