I've been playing snooker on and off since I was 15 but recently became more serious, at least two sessions per week. I've finally decided it's time to purchase my first cue. Unfortunately I don't think there's any shops in my area. Does anyone have any recommendations; where to buy (online) and also a cue for around the £50 mark - hopefully I can get something half decent for that?? Thanks in advance. Mark

My honest advice is go to green baize not too far from you and try a few out on their nice tables - they have hundreds of cues - GBL are cheap range but decent enough, maximus (better) or Ton Praram and Phoenix are good too - although they don't hold their value as well the top brands they cost a lot less in the first place. Another place in kippax near Leeds to consider is craftsman they have a table to try a few out too.
On this forum ADR147 will send you a list of his cues too if you ask him.
My advice is go to grenbazie for a day out with 300 pounds in your pocket and pick something nice you try and like - try before you buy is always best and take someone with you have a day out get a feel for what you likeGreen baize the guy you should speak to is called Stuart he is a nice knowlegable guy - not just there to flog you something expensive he is honest and Craftsman the guy you should speak to is Dave.
Don't know ADR - not been up to see him yet because he lives in haggis country with a scary lion.
Good luck

Myself I would consider only a few brands really Trevor White Stamford Parris jim Black being my main choices as they hold their value best and are quite nice cues although they all take a while to wait for on an order. A decent cue say about 250 or under consider Andy Travis or James butters - joolsbroomrunner on ebay (get a badged one) or someone might have one on here - if you ask. A good guy to deal with on here is JRC750 - very good seller

I think you need something like ten posts ( not on the introduction thread like this one ) before you can PM or add pictures etc

Hi there. Sorry to hi jack your thread, I have family in Durham and used to play in the snooker club that was just up from st Nicholas church (the church by the indoor market) in town centre, was down last year in October and Dec but it had been knocked down, bit of a shady place that was above an old Kwik fit I think. Anyway, we usually stay in the premier hotel in the centre of town, is there any other snooker clubs near by? enjoy the forum:snooker:
