  • Spartan Cues

Hello first post so please be gentle. Has anyone got any experience with Spartan as a cue maker? I tried out a few Spartan Cues along with a few Brittania ones and felt myself being drawn to the Spartan Jade. I must admit that this will mainly be used for 8 ball pool as I play approx 3 times a week but I will also be using it for league snooker as well.

I would also like to know this too as the prices seem good for cue?

I lost the tip off my old cue and so i bit the bullet and bought the Spartan Jade. Initial thoughts are positive nice weight and runs lovely in hand. One criticism would be the supplied tip is frankly awful; it felt and sounded like a pebble. I have replaced it with an Elkmaster Pro Soft and it feels far better.

I will review again in a few weeks when i have had chance to get to know it better but i must say my initial feedback is good.

I should add that i purchased the cue through cue and case who provided it to me for £50 delivered which i feel has been a bargain.

I'm sure all mass produced cues tips are only there to protect the ferrule, certainly no use to play with.

It would be interesting to know how many cue purchasers actually keep the initial tip on the cue. I would imagine anyone who is a regular player cuts the tip off as soon as it arrives or if completed by a cue maker, asks for a specific tip.

Id always change the tip unless it was a custom cue and I'd requested a certain tip to be fitted.

              Hello
Having now had a chance to use the cue over a number of weeks I am fairly happy with it. Especially at the price I paid.

As I said previously the first thing I did was change the tip. As Dave says these are there more to protect the ferrule in transit than anything else.

The weight of the cue coupled with the grip afforded by the Elkmaster is working well and overall I am happy with the cue.

One down side is that the spliced are painted. I thought as much when I first received this but it was confirmed when I dropped the cue and chipped some of the pal away.

Another thing I have noticed is that the cue produces a certain note when striking the ball which is not something I have noted on other cues I have owned previously nor is it similar to that made by any team mates cues.

I think my conclusion would be you get what you pay for and the cue is working perfectly fine for my needs. Knowing what o know now if I was offered the same cue at the same price then i would not hesitate to buy it again.

If aesthetics are more important then i would probably not recommend this cue.
