  • Hi guys

Hi guys, how are you all doing?
Jenks here, I came across this website while looking into better alternatives to the club standard blue diamond tip with triangle chalk.
At the age of 47 and now wearing glasses I was happy to recently match my long standing high break of 65 then this week knock in a 72(although there was still 59 on!) This has rekindled my belief that I have a century break in me, hence me looking into marginal gains.
I have played in my local league since about 1990 and my cue is a Tony Glover one ( cues.co.uk) which I had made in 1989 for the princely sum of £130.

    Hi guys

    Welcome to TSF
I would recommend the Mike Wooldridge Supertip.
a bit more expensive than you may have been used to but worth it
    http://handmadecues.com/
register and buy, they are like his old tips and play really well.
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

Hi Jenks, welcome to TSF. Ever had any coaching? If not it may give you that wee bit extra you're looking for. Of course more hours on the practice table could get you there as well lol.

          Hi Jenks,

I too have posted a 'newbie' welcome on here (TSF) today - having just picked up my cue again (after twenty years!) - I'm 43 years old, with declining eyesight!

Personally, I'd stick with the blue diamond tip and green triangle chalk.

Elkmaster tips would be my other choice.
          Highest break - 145
          Playing cue - an old antique Burroughs & Watts 'London Soho Square' 1 piece maple - 58" / 16.5oz / with a 10mm tip

          "Fantabulous!"...

Spooky Neil! Clive makes some nice cases, I did think about one but in sticking with my 30 year old aluminium case.
I might give the MW Supertips a go. It been a while since I put a top on I normally just pop up to Tony to get a new tip put on as me is only 5 mins from me.
Any advice on which chalk to pair with the tip?
