I'd like to stroll into the forum wearing a fedora hat and smiling sweetly as I cock it to the cheering audience .

I've been a snooker fan since the 70s when I first saw Pot Black. My early hero was John Spencer and I hated it when Reardon beat him. I listened with awe at the tales of those who went to the Selly Oak British Legion to sit on beer crates in 1972 to watch Alex Higgins beat Spencer. Higgins became my player. I evn deliberately moved on the shot to be more like him. I drew the line at headbutting the tournanment director.

I'm now sinking into middle age and can afford a house big enough to host table. I haven't made a 50 break since I was 18 and so I'll be starting from scratch. My eyes are going too

I hail from near Preston so used to go to the UK championships all the time. Saw Higgins come back to beat Davies, wonderful memories.

These days, I find watching snooker on TV hard as there are so few characters. It is the drama and theatre that can elevate a game of snooker to greatness. There aren't many characters left.

And if I have to watch Peter Ebdon much more, then I wanna be sedated

welcome jonny, im new to this forum too! mate i completely agree with you there isn't many natural characters left on tele playing the game! the first snooker match i watched was hendry vs white and i remember willing on hendry at the time, but now i'm alil older i find i prefer the likes of white and higgins! these were true entertainers! i seemed to only find someone like o'sullivan only entertainer lefy imo! then again you can always log onto youtube and watch flukes and trickshots there to something good!

You raise several good points there Jonny!
I vote for UK back to Preston and drugs if Ebdon is playing!
I've not been to a game since the Grand Prix buggered off to Aberdeen. Might try and go to Sheffield at the weekend!

A flash intro there, just like the Hurricane himself in the 1980 WC final!

            Welcome aboard.
