  • Hello all, From Canada

    Hello to all,
I'm more of a golfer than a snooker player but I learned to play both from my grandfather.
Last year I realized that shooting pool, snooker, billiards
was a great training aid for golfers who want to improve their putting skills, So I wrote an E-book.

    "Snooker 4 Golfers"
Play the game and keep score on golf course style score cards.
Consequently I needed to join the Snooker Forum so I can keep my skills and knowledge up to date.

Lucky me - I met Cliff Thorburn a couple of months ago and watched him in action.
    What an honour!

    Have a great year everyone.

Ontario must be quite cold nowadays I think.
    Happy New year as well.
I saw that going differently in my mind

Hi and welcome to the forum! Was Cliff playing well when you watched him playing?

          About Cliff Thorburn

          Hi,
Yes, considering the set up, he played quite well.
It was an exhibition event for and at an arcade pool table seller's shop. Music was too loud, table too small, many distractions, and microphone system wasn't the best for his charming chats and trick shot session.
In private he told me had a pain in his wrist/hand.
He arrived elegantly attired, starched white shirt, tuxedo, vest, polished shoes.
He is Truly a gentleman and sincerely loves the game.
He does private snooker tutoring, and is sponsored by a software company that specializes in financial risk management products for banks etc. They take him to trade shows to show off his skills and to private high end corporate events.
          His website is www.cliffthorburn.ca

Watching him analyze the table was a lesson in itself.

I learned to play pool/snooker in the basement of my grandfather's house in the late 1960s and can't really say why I was aware of Cliff Thorburn's world championship win in the mid 1980s. But our local paper in April 2008 did a 25 year anniversary story about him.

He is also an avid golfer which I discovered too late this autumn for us to play golf.

He very kindly read my "Snooker 4 Golfer's" Ebook and has given it his blessings.

thanks for the welcome to the forum!
