  • Another Newbie Here......

    Hi everyone,

i've been veiwing this site for a little while so thought it was about time i introduced myself. I'm Carl, i'm 26 and started playing on a regular basis about 6 months ago.....although i've played on and off for 10 years. I live in Radcliffe North Manchester and I play in the Bury and District Open Snooker League. I play for Radcliffe Central Snooker Club 'C' team. We are a newly formed team so we are in the bottom division but we are top with a nice gap between us and second so promotion is likely. Anyway, i'll get back to browsing the 1000's of interesting threads on here......bye for now!

        Hi Carl,

I'm new on here too and only live just up the road from you in Bury. I've been playing for about a year but don't get in many matches as there's not so many people about for me to play. Give me a shout if you fancy a match or something... I'm not of a great standard, fairly inconsistent at the moment but nothing that a bit of practice shouldn't solve!! Strangely enough I'm 26 too.

        Chris.

          thanks for the welcome's guy's.

Chris, you should come down to our club mate. it really is the best snooker club i've been in. it's a lot like a pub as there is lots of banter flying about but it's all good fun. Radcliffe has a bad reputation but we see none of the bad stuff in there as the idiots get refused entrance. there are six tables that are well looked after. i'm not very good either mate but can hold my own in our division.

            Hey Carl

Welcome to the forum. I'm 26 as well, I've been playing as much as work and life allows for about six years now. I was a bit shocked since you're in the UK to see you mentioning there aren't a lot of people around to have a match with. Is this because the town you live in is small? I certainly understand how frustrating it can be to want practice with someone and then having to end up just running drills on your own. I live in a city of almost three million and it's still often hard to find a practice partner. My tip of the day, if you end up having to slog it out on your own a fair bit; try playing a few frames against yourself, right hand vs. left hand, it's fun and your weaker arm develops a good range of shots you can use instead of having to get the rest out so often.
