I stumbled across the forum whilst surfing for cue information over Xmas, and thought i would do the polite thing and introduce myself.
Until I met my wife I played up to five nights per week, and my whole social life revolved around snooker. Obviously marraige and children (and an increase in workload) have altered this to the point that I now only play on match nights, and have not practised regularly for 8 years.
I am hoping that as the kids get older I will be able to commit more time to playing snooker, but I cannot see any change in this situation for at least the next 5/6 years.
Despite my lack of practice, and the fact that more often than not my first frame of the week is my League match, and the practise follows, I am pretty
pleased with the standard I have been able to maintain. My highest break is 99 (when I played all the time), but in the past few years I have broken 80 quite a few times and can still knock 60+ breaks in. My main aim is that whilst I am 'in remission' that I don't fall off too much, so that when I am able to start playing properly again that I won;t have too far to catch up. In my league matches the fact that I have been playing for 25 years is in part compensating, as I know that I am now less likely to be able to clinch the frame at a single visit, but but i can use my experience and safety play (which doesn;t see to have been affected nearly as much as the break building) to get me through. It is extremely frustrating to be in the balls and not extract the maximum vlaue - this is often due to either not being comfortable playing the required shot, or more likely not knowing what the correct shot should be!!!
i am looking forward to contributing to this site and hoping to pick people's brains regarding my 'new cue quandary' - which i will post in the appropriate forum.
Thanks
