Statman, when you say 'Predictor Champion' you only mean for the first round, right?...
..So why would you have needed to go into a tie-break, because it's not important who won individual rounds, but the competition as a whole?

Or am I just breing incredibly stupid and missing something?

You are right, Obligation. But I do tie-break individual rounds, so that each Round, AND each Tournament, AND the Overall Season, all have a distinct winner.
