Below are the results of the Semi-final Prediction Contest.
Astonishingly, with 44 sets of predictions submitted, not one set included a correct scoreline for either match. However, the correct winner of both was predicted by all but 9 of us.
This resulted, as you will see below, in a 35-way tie for first place.
Please check your score (and anyone else's as you wish) and report any discrepancies WITHIN 48 HOURS of the date/time displayed at the top of this message, by replying on this thread.
You are reminded that queries raised more than 48 hours from now cannot normally be considered for alteration.
There was a 35-way tie for first place, which was resolved in the following way:
(a) Number of matches in which the correct winner was predicted: this did not resolve any part of the tie.
(b) Frames difference between actual and predicted scoreline: this reduced the tie to two Predictors, who both were one frame out for each match – Pat39 and Valderie.
(c) Closeness to highest break: Pat39 112, Valderie 141, actual 106.
Thus, congratulations to Pat39 for winning the Semi-finals Contest.
Also please note that nobody gained an extra point for correctly guessing the highest break, which was 106.
