I think a point is fair in this case.

Perhaps from now on the rules could state any mis-types will result in no score. As someone else said, it would be nice if someone notices a mistake they could message the person to let them know so that they could amend in time!

Well, then it's just the willingness to interpret any involuntary mistake in favour of the predictor or not. Should we punish that? Perhaps. But then it has to be put in the rules. I am not a lawyer, but isn't any shortcoming in the rules/the law interpreted in favour of the "defendant"?

Indeed. I have now amended the rules to say that if League matches add up to the wrong number of frames, this will result in no score for that match.

However, that section of the Rules was not there for Riba, and taking into account only the section of Rule 10 that existed before, suggests that she ought receive a point.

You can look at Rule 10 for yourselves. The part in brackets is the bit I have added. You can see that, without the bracketed section, a point would appear to be due.

I agree that she certainly deserves a point, as she was guaranteed a point whichever score she meant. No points would be harsh.

You are probably right-to be honest I'm not 100% sure of the rules-really I should be.

She got the match winner correct, and was one frame wrong in the prediction.

On second thoughts, give her the point

                Strictly, she should get none.

                The score was 4-2
                She predicted 4-3
                She predicted the wrong score.
She was not 1 frame away because she wrote a VOID amount of maximum frames.

Therefore, by simple logic, she should get no points.

Saying that, I think she should get the point

mistype. And she/he predicted the right winner. I pointed to another member (rich45) he predicted 4-3 and then corrected the score to 4-2. So, one point is the minimum, a fair cop!

So predicting 100-2 would have yielded the same resut?

                      Fair point.

Anyhow, since she typed 4-3 and not 100-2, and it will have no effect on any more matches this season, and anyway the Rules have been improved to clarify the sutuation, I have decided to give Riba 1 point. Lucky for Riba, maybe, but there it is.

PS this is meant to be a bit of fun more than anything else.

Fun!? Now our opinions clearly differ in this matter. I'm in dead earnest about this.

As always, tremendous performance on your behalf, Statman. All your work for this prediciton competition, I'm lost for words really. Just amazing!

I reckon Riba should get one and a half points.

If she meant to type 4-2, she would have got 2 points. If she meant 3-3, 1 point. Take the average, and 1.5!

(I'm just kidding. 1 point sounds completely fair.)

                              maybe it's a small mistake
                              give her 1,5 points
